Career Services

We provide the following services:

Career and self-exploration
  • Assist you in exploring careers;
  • Plan activities to achieve career goals through individual and group counseling;
  • Use various career programs such as FOCUS 2 and the Myers Biggs Type Indicator to help you with the self-assessment process, enabling you to learn about your skills, interests, values and personality traits;
  • Inform you of various career opportunities and pathways that complement your skills and interests;
  • Share current knowledge of labor market and industry trends
Skill development
  • Connect you with experiential learning opportunities such as job shadowing and internships;
  • Teach you the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) 8 competencies
Job searches
  • Assist you with job search strategies, interview preparation, writing resume and cover letters, developing LinkedIn profiles, discussing salary negotiations, and networking;
  • Empower you to make informed career-related decisions;
  • Ensure you are career ready upon graduation with deliverables such as a resume, LinkedIn profile, cover letter, and portfolio if appropriate;
  • Assist you with job placement

Career Coach

Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ students have access to Career Coach to help discover their interests, identify their strengths and gain understanding of the job market in our region.

A class undergoes Leave No Trace training in the trails on the college's Queensbury campus.

Other services

  • Act as liaison with students, faculty, administration, employers, sponsors and college at large;
  • Train and support the campus community with career exploration and assessment tools such as Career Coach software, Handshake, FOCUS 2, Myers Briggs Type Indicator to promote best practices in helping students identify their strengths, values, skills and interests in relation to the career decision-making process;
  • Support academic and faculty advisors, and other student support program staff with alignment of academic program requirements and career goals;
  • Customize classroom career-related presentations for faculty and students;
  • Collaborate with faculty to keep up to date on program outcomes and employer partnerships
  • Develop content for career workshops and other career-oriented events such as job fairs and career panels;
  • Collect and analyze data, including pre- and post-internship income, employment status and degree completion statistics;
  • Maintain and develop new relationships with employers, sponsors and stakeholders
